The McDowell Center for Performing Arts (CPA) is the most comprehensive and fully integrated high school department of its kind in northwestern Pennsylvania. The programs within the CPA contribute to the academic lives of a large portion of McDowell Students. The Millcreek Township School District recognized the need to enhance the arts education of its large student body and established the department in 2003. Since then, we have experienced tremendous growth and no w serve the needs of over 1,000 students each year!

      We have four areas of curriculum within the CPA department. The dance courses include CPA Dance, Popular Dance, Competition Dance, and Dance for Athletes. The drama department includes courses in Performing Arts (levels I-II-III-IV). They are also in charge of producing four annual theatrical productions. The instrumental department includes Concert Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble. The vocal department includes MIHS Chorus, McDowell Chorus, and Vocal Ensemble. The CPA also has an award-winning Marching Band as well as classes in Piano, Guitar, and Theory. The McDowell Center for Performing Arts is now renowned for our outstanding theatrical productions, our many instrumental and vocal groups, and our award winning musicians, singers, dancers, and actors.
